She's such an interesting little being, always paying attention to what's going on around her. She won't drink her milk or eat her food if there's too much going on. She'd rather sit up and watch who's in the room, what they're saying, what they're doing etc etc. And forget bed time.
Eating: There's been a few changes to her eating patterns, onto 2 meals a day, and roughly 5 milk feeds. The day starts off with morning milk at 7am and roughly again at 9am. She is still half asleep when having these feeds (and so am I haha) and it's usually breast milk. She has her brunch or should I say lunch at 12, (she wakes up at 11am). This meal is either her rice cereal in banana and pear flavour or or mixture of pureed fruits, I sometimes mix some fruits in her cereal, to mix things up a bit. She has her formula milk between 3-4pm and then dinner at 7pm which is a mixture of pureed vegies (potatoe, pumpkin, sweet potatoe, carrots, broccoli, spinach, zucchini etc). Her last feed of formula milk is at 10pm, and she goes down to bed just after that. Oh and her morning cereal is usually accompanied with a bottle of milk.
We make her meals in large batches and freeze them in small containers, like below. Each day taking out a different combination of fruits and vegetables.
Sizes: Possum is at an inbewteen stage at the moment. She's wearing 3-6 months clothing, but some brands are slightly big for her in that size. They are still wearable, but not a perfect fit. And believe it or not, she can still get into some 0-3 months clothing, things like cardigans, tights, but it all really comes down to the clothing manufacturer, as they all have different sizing. I'm not one to dress her in clothing that's too big, I like having the right fit on her.
Just as an FYI for new moms, the sizing chart.
0000- Newborn
000 - 0-3 months
00 - 3-6 months
0 - 6-12 months
1- 12-18 months
2- 18-24 months
Milestones:
- Reaching out to objects: she now reaches out to hold objects. When she's on her tummy on the floor, she'll reach out to the toy and hold it. It's fun watching her topple and turn to get to a toy.
-Rolling around the house: now that she's mobile, I find Rayah rolling to different areas in our lounge. ( I think it's a good time to baby proof the house). It all happens in a split second. I don't ever leave her alone on the floor. I find the safest place to be on her 4MOMS Mamaroo, I pop her in that when I have to duck to the loo, or run to get the mail.
-She has a longer attention span: Munchkin likes watching adults talk, she will look back and fourth at people talking, and concentrate on our mouths moving. I guess she's at a stage where she is aborsorbing all the information , word and sounds. Because of this, she enjoys reading time. I read books to her and and she will follow the pages as I read. It's the sweetest thing ever.
- Stronger posture : Munchkin is able to hold her self up with her elbows and hands when she's on her tummy, she will also get on all fours and topple over, but she is not at the crawling stage yet. Though she has a strong posture, she hasn't mastered sitting up alone, but holds into her toes and falls to her side (so cute to watch).
Favourite Toys:
Fisher and Price Laugh and Learn Laptop. She loves this, it has 12 different songs and teaches her numbers, letters, shapes and colours. It's one of my mummy favourites because of the educational aspect to it, and the little mouse on the bottom right is too cute.
Fisher and Price Clack and Play Crab. Possum likes this for the little balls on the claw and she likes to look at herself in the mirror too.
Here are a few of her favourite books, Fisher and Price My first book set, which teaches kids colours, animals, the alphabet and where animals live. The smaller books are sing -along nursery rhymes.
Lamaze soft sorter. This toy is meant to be for 9 months + but because it's soft, munchkin likes playing with the shapes , I sit down with her and help her put the shapes in the corresponding sides, and she likes the sounds each shape makes, (they have bells and whistle in them).
Here she is, ready to go out with daddy for an afternoon walk.
OOTD:
Bebe floral romper in size 00. I love the frills on the sleeve, it was a gift from a dear friend.
And Bonds summer hat, it was warm that afternoon, I'm yet to buy her some winter hats. It's on my 'to do' list.
Hope everyone had a great hump day.
